That’s why I double sometimes triple check if I set the brakes. Too much stuff on your mind can make you forget.

You can "feel" the truck moving when it's not. I'll bet every truck driver has been parked in a dock door, a parking space or at a fuel pump and a combination of sights happen that make you instantly think your truck is rolling forward or backward after you forgot to set your brakes. When you grab the brake valves and yank on them is when you realize the guy beside you is rolling, not you. It's happened to me maybe a half dozen times.

I know many drivers that triple check their tractor doors are locked and their brake valves are out. Usually you get those habits from forgetting to do them and not getting caught one time.

I check and check and check, it's crazy. Maybe I am the crazy.

Once she started rolling... bounced into the cab right quick.

When you have too much on your mind the smallest detail whoops... expensive.

What I DO do in the past is load the student with this, that and other until his throat or head displays signs of stress. When he is properly fed up with the make work (Lets GO ALREADY AUGH!) I ask him to double check the little seal in the back doors to match logs. He bounced out and starts marching thinking I am such a tinpot.

I have the brakes released quietly and start drifting slower then he is walking.

It will be a time give or take until #### THIS IS A LONG TRAILER!!! WTF? when he finally understands. Ive paid for that one a time or two. so worth it.

More of the 30 minute fuel island break takers should forget to set brakes.
