Marine here, or was many many many years ago.
To any new trucker I would suggest a good resume. In your case, one that highlights your years of driving in the military. By "good resume" I mean one that stretches the truth so as to allow you to get your foot in the door at a good company. It's the old "you can't get hired until you have the experience and you can't get the experience until you're hired." There are exceptions, of course.
