you wont get rates, or miles posted....and your company has to be an *approved* carrier...but it is free

I used to use internet truckstop, paid the monthly fees ($36 of something) and got quite a few loads off of there

if your gonna have to pay for one, i would go with internet TS , it always had the same loads that were on get loaded and ......crap what was that other one i had???DAT?????
    anyway
LS broker is just LS loads, but you can and quite often do find them on ITS

instead of goin Indy-dependant, have you looked into leasing on with an outfit to help you?
i think the precentage's of money home everyweek are about the same, with less headache

I think that in most cases an Independent who uses strictly load boards to get his loads won't make much if any more than leasing to a GOOD company considering the added costs. If one was a good salesman and could get his own freight direct from the shipper, then there is some money to be made. There are also greater financial risks with being independent, but more freedom and flexibility. I guess my point is, there are just a bunch of tradeoffs involved and is just a matter of personal preference.

I think you put it right there.

I lease to a company and although they don't run me as much as I would
like with it being slow right now. The runs I do get are plenty to keep me
going without haveing to use brokers and stuff.

Now when the oilfield gets back in full swing is when the money will
    really be rolling in.

that's kinda what i though on the trade-off eskimo.
i will be happy at first just making as much leased on here as i do now. with the enjoyed "freedom" of being able to do a little "customizing" of my truck, where i go and IF i CHOOSE to sit idling all FN weekend 170 miles from home LOL

Sometimes we need to use load boards to move our trucks around.

Today we logged into Internet truckstop and the board is full of loads coming out of Buffalo NY. There is a posting from TQL from Buffalo to Jacksonville FL total distance 1060Miles paying $1,100 for a full frozen -5F load.

I thought when there is a demand for trucks the rates go up.

Oh the good news according to him is that it's only a 20,000 pound load and I will use less fuel.
