There are ALWAYS other options. You don't sign a contract you know to be bad. That's like throwing in the towel before you've started.

Nobody, not even a mega driver mill company,
Let's a truck sit a whole week in charlotte North Carolina,
    Claiming there is no freight.
They don't get paid either, unless the truck is rolling.

    That's unheard of.
They would have deadheaded you out of there
    After a couple of days.

There either starving you out on purpose,
Or they are actually worst scumbags then we think
    They are.
    It could be the latter.

Looking at PAM, trying to get experience? Is it worth it?
I was told 14 days otr training then its a dedicated route.
Its 35cpm is that worth it?
Im in Orlando FL, with a wife and 5 kids.

From the outside looking in, I think you could do better. Maybe @Chinatown could point you out a starter company that has a good rep with decent pay.

At 5 months, you’re almost halfway through your contract, so try to tough it out a little longer if you can. If you can’t take it no more and leave, your next job needs to pay significantly more money to make up for the $6,000 or more collection account PAM Transportion is going to put on your credit which will hurt you for the next few years even if you later pay it off.

At 6 months, more options will come available and at 9 months and if you can make it to a year, you’ll complete your obligation to PAM AND have a plethora of options.

NICKB001, this forum is a great way to get insight on the industry as a whole and also find a way better company than Penny A Mile .35 cent a mile is chicken feed you’d starve to death research, research, research just don’t jump into the fire keep in mind starting out you will be away from home don’t know the ages of your kids but it can be ruff at times

Ive been set out 9 days once, took it home went to Unemployment and told them company wanted to essentially starve me out near three steel mills.

A week later after live conference under oath versus a Judge and company I win the case lock stock and barrel.

Then the yelling started. (I was also B/Listed from the midwestern Steel area. But thats invalid now.)

You do not sit for a #### thing these days. If its a happensance for say 80 hours fine. But anything more than that is BS.

PAM relies on a ton of automotive freight. A lot of those guys are dedicated on their crappy lease purchase plan. GM went on strike and it left a whole lot of drivers with nothing to do. I'm sure there are PAM drivers sitting everywhere. Day 17 of the strike. I believe if it goes much farther, there will be layoffs at PAM. It's happened before.
