That trip would be awesome. I don't even like most planned "packaged " vacations but that one would be worth a year of pre-planning anticipation. I got to take a field trip train ride for an afternoon in elementary school and it was nice but That one is going through such incredible scenery it would be unforgettable. How often do they have those ?

Yet again I'm awoken be that damnable bunk heater. This time two hours before my alarm.

I'm not sure why it's not a problem when I first fall asleep, but only after listening to it subconsciously for 4-5 hours does it then start to drive me crazy.

I'm glad next week is going to be 80+, because there's no bunk "cooler" in this thing. Nice, even motor idle to soothe me throughout the night.

Well, I'm about ready to just call it quits on trying to use this thing.

Confirmed it is a Webasto unit. Got under the mattress and lifted up the storage cover. Also realized why it's so loud, the "cover" for the storage compartment is a half inch piece of plywood with a gap on the edge, so being that it's in a big open space under there, the pump cycling echos in the open space and just comes straight into the bunk.

The pump itself must be under the floor of the sleeper, because there are only electrical lines inside the compartment, so any feeble attempt on my part at going zip-tie mad to at least try and cut some of the sound have been dashed.

Did some reading and apparently these units specific to Volvo trucks have the temperature sensor down at the fresh air intake (smart!) so because that's uninsulated space, it doesn't realize it's pumping summer into the bunk when it thinks it's the middle of winter outside.

And the only regulation the operator gets is how much summer they want pumped into the sleeper at once on the dial, not set a specific temperature like on the units I used at Paul's Hauling in the Mack/FL. Which was great, I set it at about 66F and was good all night.

Oh well, full blown winter is on its way, so I won't have to worry about the temps hovering near freezing anymore. Soon it'll be too cold to reliably shut the truck off at all.

Yes I’m reusing the Big Cam flywheel since it’s different than the N14, my clutch is virtually new, and I know how it’s bedn treated lol. I use a couple “cutoffs” from brake chambers as line up pins. Free and they fit both ends of the crank, makes mounting the flywheel and the crank dampener a lot easier when you work alone...... :)
