I know someone who worked for a company where you had to request fuel stops on your routing and wait for them to tell you where to go.

I get a list of all the available locations emailed almost daily on our Transnet network in every single state and province in North America and told to "buy cheap".

I’m thinking 300’s or 315 Big Cams....? All about fuel economy, a well tuned 315 could be made to pull, but not the way JB had them setup. We use to run hot 290’s / 350 Cummins and a few hot 3406’s too. The small Cat was a hot 310, and it would smoke JB & the big orange pumpkins lol. At Machinery Hauling in the 80’s it was a lot different than now......

Amen! Load it, fuel it, run the wheels off it and unload it!! When you were tired you slept! Man's got to know his own limitations!

I started in 96 OTR, but I ran straight trucks local from 89 to 95 or so. I remember when Swift and all them fellas was set at 55. My 1st ex wife's dad had a 76 Pete cabover with a 350BC. Always liked that truck.

Nothing good for fuel economy about taking a day and a half to climb a 3-4 mile hill at 5 mph, lol.

Oh yes, the 55mph trucks lol, the highways were polluted with them things.

Pop had a 1976 352 “Patriot” Bicentennial, wish I knew where it was now. I heard it went to Kentucky but not sure.
