Middle to upper back soreness after sleeping?

    Has anyone experienced the following:

    Middle to/and upper back soreness after sleeping for 8 hours or more. Then a few minutes after getting up it clears up completely.


    Notes:

    1) i have recently been running city, which means i now sleep great----8 hours in one spot in one session. Whereas before, when i did linehaul, i would sleep for about 4,5,6, hours at a time and then get up and do stuff and then maybe sleep for 3 more hours before going on duty. There was no soreness then.

    2) It's true that i haven't touched (or even seen) a pallet jack or handtruck, or have had to handle freight for quite a while----and then all of a sudden i'm having to do all that. BUT, i excercise frequently, even without that
    , so i'm not sure the soreness is due to the sudden freight handling. Plus, if it were, wouldn't i be sore after getting up as well?

    This is very uncomfortable, slightly affecting my sleep. But clears up completely after a few mins after getting up.

    Plop down three hundred bucks at your favorite furniture store for a foam mattress. You won't regret it.

    You may just be using muscles in a way that you aren't used to. Even though you go to the gym, that's not operating a pallet jack. Hopefully it gets better. A new mattress never hurts.

    Sounds like a mild muscle spasm which can mysteriously go away after movement. Use alternating ice and heat with some ibuprofen.

    It's the matress. 3 inches on bare steel or wood is not a matress make.

    What we did was buy 7 foot by 4 foot wide rectangular sleeping bags rated to -30 Fat ones. Two of them. Under the matress. Then bought 4 body length pillows. Throw in the bunk. 6 Black and white petro woven mexican style blankets top off the nest.

    At that point you build a nest. It really does not matter how bad the roads get at that point.

    It may or may not be the mattress in my case; i experimented with a different mattress and still got the same results---sometimes. i adjusted my pillows and that seemed to solve it. Although the original mattress also happens to be toast just recently.

    The problem seemed to start when i got a new temperpedic type pillow and this model in particular seems to compress more than a "regular" pillow. i figured it was better than a regular pillow so i didn't need any additional pillows---i usually use at least 2 "regular" pillows. Since it compressed more, then my neck wasn't straight? So i used two again and this seemed to fix it, knock on wood.

    i'm just posting this here so i won't lose it. Didn't have time to review it all the way. i usually sleep on my sides.

    I had an old back injury flare up one time, so I slept in a folding beach chair for a few nights and slept comfy.
    It fit in the sleeper and with a chair with arm rests plus a couple of comfortable pillows behind the head, I was well rested.

    I usually nested into several body length pillows and was literally "Burrowing" into them as needed to settle the bones. The bones were always the worst part with me.

    I was examining some of the very early papers written on my first year on earth and learned that it was into month 8 before I sat up using my stomach muscles for the first time way later than most babies due to the premature birth and complications (Three months early) As such I had always been light in weight.

    Im getting ready to replace the main matress of the bed, it's approaching 30 years service and despite the constant cleaning, use of wrapping materials to fight dust, dna and other problems common to bedding it would be time to put a new one on there. I have been in contact with the hospital to learn which one they use, which I found to be very very good quality the kind you can almost burrow into.

    I learned to stay in a fat recliner that you can almost lay flat. And once in a while the body will just go to sleep right there in it and it would be morning. I don't make a habit of it But when you have good furniture in addition to good bed life is not so difficult in the later years.
