Happens to the best of us. I outsmarted myself yesterday.
I get finished my 22 stops in Salisbury yesterday at about 2:15ish and sank spur back up 50 towards the barn. Dispatcher calls me and I don’t answer, thinking “#### this guy, I did my job today. Let the other lazy ####s that start 2 hours after me do their own pickups”.
It wasn’t about that.
Since they shut down the right lane on the westbound span of the Bay Bridge for redecking, which they just did 4 years ago BTW, the word was that the far left lane on that span which sometimes gets reversed for eastbound traffic would remain as a westbound lane.
The word changed.
Last Friday the backup going east wound up stretching to 13 miles and there were quite a few angry phone calls made to people in high places. I’m sure palms got greased as well, but I digress....
Travel agent sent me a text about going up and around since they were switching the bridge over to two way traffic. I thought no, that’s wrong and he’s giving me bogus info like the last idiot I had was good for. I called the bridge hotline to see what was going on, and not a word about it there either.
The surprise came another 40 miles up the road when I started to see the signs saying “no trucks crossing the bridge westbound”.
Made another phone call, and hear they’re running 3 lanes eastbound, one lane going west, and any trucks waiting to cross while they made the change would be turned around.
It sure would’ve been nice to know that before I left Salisbury so I could’ve went straight up 13 through Delaware and saved a half hour.![]()

They say dog is man's best friend. But the dishwasher I had to remove yesterday is still sitting here and this lazy mutt is ignoring me telling him to go load it in the pickup.
Wife called me yesterday just before I unloaded calves and said she thought she stepped in a puddle of dog piss downstairs. She was relieved to find it was just water and then mad it was coming from somewhere under the kitchen.
I told her I'm just glad we haven't spent the money yet putting drywall on the ceiling down there.
We've owned in this house since 2007 and this is the 5th dishwasher. Maybe I better just leave the ceiling open down there.Intothesunset, 1951 ford, Al. Roper and 25 others Thank this. -
Ceiling tile is easier to replace on a suspended ceiling.

Check out this band called Copperhead. Really good southern rock. They did a great cover of Drift Away.

Bird just flew into the ceiling fan above my bay

Poor little bugger. -

That's what used to be down there. It looked pretty bad so we took it out. We had been thinking about drywall but now I'm seeing why it was like that.

Suspended ceiling is easy to put up. If you plumbing and wiring attached to the bottom of the joists you’d have to put some sort of framing up below it to screw the drywall to anyway.
