Call Cummins on Monday or email them with the data plate of the engine.
ISX have stamped metal plates with the serial numbers near the top on the drivers side.
They will tell you exactly when it was made, and where it came from.
If the salesman's story doesn't match..............I don't know about you, but I hate liars.

Yes I'm gonna call the 2 local MHC dealers and see if I can get anywhere with them....
-
Will they voluntarily give me the info from warranty work or any work done at an MHC/KW dealer?
-
Go directly to Cummins. All you need is the info on that plate.
There's got to be 1 or 2 Cummins shops near you.
We have 2 in Phoenix.
All they do is engines and after treatment, and they've no dog in the fight.Tx Countryboy, Fire ant and nikmirbre Thank this. -
I guess what I mean is would they just give it to me? The dealer here isn't the dealer that is selling the truck. I know back in the day Volvo dealers weren't linked to each other.... I didn't know if MHC was this way.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

Unknown. The Freightliner I deal with will give me all the info on any truck I'm looking at.
They are still on warranty or just coming off though, so everything is documented.Fire ant Thanks this. -
Any pure Cummins house will give you the info on when that engine was built.
I mean if the engine was manufactured a year after the truck was, I think you have your answer.
My truck is a '12. It says right on the engine rating plate date of manufacture 10/11. -
Truck had a fuel pump failure in 2017 at 258852mi and had the original engine pulled out and the current one installed. Took me awhile to sort through what went on. Current engine was built in 2017 and had no claims. Had to get back to the truck serial number and found it came with a different one originally. Chased that s/n down and got the rest of the story. That should explain the mileage difference. Also engine should have the latest updates already done.
