I worked for a company that had headquarters in Florida, had tractors plated in Illinois, trailers in Maine and I lived in Texas at the time. All my income was taxable in my home state. Which conveniently didn't have income taxes.

Our trucks all had Illinois tags, headquarters in Georgia and paid taxes to the state you claim as home.

You pay taxes in your home state. It doesn’t matter where the company is from.
If your state has income tax and you have no reason to stay there go to a no income tax state. You’ll be spending most of your time on the road anyway.

Your state tax filing is the final answer to your W-2.

After all. We're just low life truckers. Not nba athletes. Our taxes aren't as complicated as there's are.

    Not true.
Everything depends on the laws in the state you work out of.

I live in Florida but drove OTR for a company out of Michigan. Michigan required me to pay State taxes there..
