I didn't know USDOT worked state scales

They most certainly do. I was inspected in Arizona by a federal officer during the last blitz. They even had a dually pulling an office type trailer. Might have said FMCSA on it but this guy was not an Arizona officer.

 

I have seen fed dot guy at San Jon scale last year. He is not always at that scale.

 

It was a she & she had the badge & all. 2 of them there besides the regular dot guys.

 

WA does that every once in a while. A lady told me one time at Spokane that they compile the info they collect to see how much freight is coming into, going out of, or just passing through the state.

 

I heard it was blind loads. They were cutting some seals & resealing

 

They’d usually be at the Spokane scale a few times a year for 3-4 days at a time. Once in a while they’d ask if you were delivering in WA and if you said no they didn’t even want to see your BOL and if you said yes then they’d make a copy of it.

 

They were copying everybody's that they pulled in & checking trailer contents on some

 

I’m not disagreeing with you, but they usually do it a few times a year and they maybe do different things at different times. I’ve had them copy my paperwork when I was delivering in state, sometimes they’d copy it if I was going to BC or OR and sometimes they wouldn’t. For years I was through the Spokane scale multiple times a week and they’d be there a lot. It probably wasn’t for the same thing every time.

 

Wyoming will make copies too.

 

I used to run WA. & OR. Regular.

 

East bound tokio scales were a pain when they were open.

 

Had a federal one inspecting at a scale near us. Same one that did a compliance review on us.
