Title means nothing, the motor carrier enforcement officer will.measure from the furthest point that can support a load in the front to the further point in the rear, so you will exceed 53'with 3 foot flippers. That is why the flippers were only 22", they would make you exactly 53' when flipped.

Also, keep on mind as a non-divisible load many states will only allow you 53' of load, because of no overhang rules. So putting the flipper out then driving a car to the edge of it so that part is hanging over the front of trailer/backnof your truck is not allowable in many states, nor is having part of the car hang off past the tail of the trailer.

Not one time did you ever mention doing a full
Inspection of either new trailer before driving off
    Of the dealers lot.

You would have seen most of those problems
Before you ever hooked up to it.

True, I dropped the ball in that aspect, but in my defense I wouldn't have found out most of the problems until I have loaded the trailer and ran it for a while. My main issue wasn't the paint or a wire not run through a loop. It was hydraulic leak that showed itself mostly after the first few days of use. I wouldn't have known the winch battery wasn't wired up to a power source until it suddenly ran out on me and then would have had to go through it all to find the problem. Couldn't have known that the top floor raised crooked only with a load until I loaded it. And I couldn't have known one of the running light wires was bare and going to short out unless I started taking it all apart right on the lot.

As for the second trailer you are right. I missed it completely when I went over the trailer. I didn't sit and measure the front flippers and I didn't get under the trailer to look at every inch of brake line to make sure they are all good on a brand new trailer. Dumb of me to assume a brand new trailer wouldn't have any serious issues even though it just came out of the factory from a company that assured me my first trailer was a one time fluke and they are all about quality.

    Lesson learned.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I thought TPT made a decent product, apparently not..

Bad wiring can be a nightmare to sort out. I drug the tail on mine alot, & the vibration would cause the left rear marker light to come unplugged. Happen to me in the rain one night & was popping the same fuse as you, losing trailer running/clearance lights, but brake & turn still functioning. Mine was a easy fix of just plugging the light back in, but I was unable to sort it out till daylight because I couldn't find it in the rain & darkness. Come morning with everything dried out it didn't pop the fuse immediately. I was able to see the out light & just plugged it back in..

I am aware they knock off trailers though. Their 4 & 5 car are obviously Kaufman's. The 51' I beam wedge looks exactly like a big tex 51AC to me. Wonder where the hotshot flatbeds, & dumps blueprints came from..?

With all this being the case I'd highly doubt TPT is putting Dexter axles under there. Easy enough to find out. Dexter brand will be labeled right on the oil cap. 21-36# caps are used on 9k GD to 15k HD. There should also be a paper tag in the center of the axle beam with Dexter name, model, & serial #. I just sold my hotshot trailer with Dexter axles. I'll take them again anyday over al-ko/hays, rockwell, or lippert. They treated me great. Had about 270k on them. Original wheel seals, bearings, & brakes (disc) with not one ounce of trouble out of them. Never even adjusted a bearing, just changed oil every 12k miles or so with 75w90 mobil 1..

That sounds like a load of crap to me about the brake wiring being "your fault" for quote "riding the brakes". If by riding the brakes means anytime I must slowdown, than yes I'm guilty.

Hopefully you will have better luck with your wedge..

I was going to their madisonville shop next week but this makes me second guess that.

If you could do it over again would you go elsewhere?

Are you looking at car haulers, or a mini float?

Mini float my Loadmax was really good, except the powder coat job was horrible. I'd look at Brute, PJ, & Loadmax in that order. You can now opt for primer, then powder coat which I strongly recommend if getting a power coated trailer. (PJ, Loadmax) Brute uses a nice hard urethane paint & primer. Cheaper painted trailers use enamel & no primer..

I just want either a 40’ with rolling ramps or a 35+5 flat deck. I was excited to go to the factory there in Madisonville, but this thread makes me forget that idea. PJ was on my list as well as Big Tex and Nationwide

Big Tex is ok too. 6 years ago they looked sub-par to me, but their quality has improved since. It just bothered me they did, maybe still do? 18" crossmember spacing vs 16" on most other trailers. I also don't like the 22gn in 40'. The 16lb per foot I beam they use is too weak when that long. I'd look at the 25gn if I were going Big tex, maybe even the 3xgn?

If you're not too far from TPT factory take the time to check them out. Crawl around, & under it to make sure the wiring, welds, paint, all look good before you buy. Also if your getting 16" wheel tandem dual, I highly recommend all steel (steel in the sidewall ply)14ply tires, or maybe even the 17.5" wheel tire package. I made the mistake of trying to run 10plys when I started & they were a disaster. Blowouts & tread separation once a month it seemed. That was cruising 65mph or below, & checking air weekly, & still happening..

Personally I would never touch another TPT product. They didn't stand behind their product and both trailers are poorly built and poorly engineered. Actually looking for a weld shop to make a bunch of changes so it would at least be usable until I upgrade again.
