I don't understand the people that say they have plenty on their plate? You have 300 drivers but how many are in that region? On that day? Also how many need dispatcthed on that particular day? When you break it down they are not performing brain surgery.

Dude I get the fact you have a bunch in certain areas on certain days. But acting like the whole fleet is there is ridiculous. So maybe there are 70 trucks to 100 in that area. Divide by 3 not that much on a plate in a nice air conditioned office

You seem to be here just to stir the pot. Maybe you never worked with dispatch much. They juggle drivers, updates, loads, etc. Im sure some days might not be bad, and others can be rough. Some drivers call in to over communicate, and other have called in just to talk to someone. Yeah, they have a lot on their plate. What is it to you? All you do is hold a steering wheel.

I see you have never worked in operations.
It’s not just about finding loads, that’s the easy part. Dealing with angry customers because of missed appointments, angry drivers because you were given the wrong information, scheduling appointments and OS&D are the hard parts.Ray Strack Thanks this. -
Not divide by three, multiple by three. One call to shipper, one to receiver, one to truck. Minimum.
Eight hour day, 100 trucks, 300 calls, 1.6 minutes each. Best get cracking if you want to be the only dispatcher.on it.dwells40 and Ray Strack Thank this. -

Hah, I think she gave me that Hall's load instead ( We probably have quite a few). Was wondering how I got such a tight load being she dropped it on me while I was heading out from Waseca Friday afternoon late, peoplenet. So I ran hard, Friday, Saturday to the Allentown Service Center. Get a 34 in before delivering at 9AM Monday US Cold Storage, Heller RD. Boogie over to Halls, Saw Mill Pond RD for a Monday, 10.30AM load. It's going to be tight. Hopping I can get unloaded early at US Cold Storage. Hate being late.
What I like is that Halls load is a two day load, deliver Wednesday, Twin Cities. NiceLast edited: Oct 13, 2019
sc00ter Thanks this. -
I love tight loads if you have the hours because money but I thin some times they accept them because the money is too good not to even if late.

You got that right Ray. Obviously she wasn't worried about asking me, just dropped it knowing I'd get it done, regardless. Have just enough hours recap to cover that trip, but anytime I can fit in a 34 by running hard. I do it. Never know when those extra hours come in hand later in the week.sc00ter Thanks this.
