I have a question for my fellow drivers. I have been kicking around an idea about putting small fitness centers(trailers) in a chain of truck stops, but I wanted to see if there is an interest from other drivers. The idea, would be to have a modular trailer(single or double wide) with a couple treadmills, elipictcal trainers, some free weights and a universal gym. All the equipment would be near new professional grade stuff. Is this something that you would be interested in and would you make time for a quick workout? Let me know what you guys think!

I have done some searching and have found a few places that have talked about doing this and one place that opened a few gyms, but it sounds like they are closed. Anyone know if Rollong Strong Gyms are still around? Any info would be great! I know I would use a gym to start my day!

Depending on the cost - maybe a few bucks for a single visit or you could get a membership card for X amount that would give you access to any of them. Would there be someone on staff for questions/equipment problems/security/etc.?

Yeah, statikuz asked the same questions i had. Cost is going to be a main factor. I'm not paying $5 per visit, if I'm going to want to be there every day, every other day. But, a decent monthly or yearly membership at a decent price would be great.
I am currently in a membership that is only $10 per month. Can't go there in a big truck. And, they aren't everywhere.

I think it's a great idea. Only problem I see is that in order to be successful (and profitable) it seems like the driver would have to have almost nationwide access, right?

I mean, if you paid for an annual membership, you would want to train whenever (24hr access) and wherever you were at the time.

It seems like if one of the truckstop national chains decided it was a good idea -they would have the best chance of success with it.

Not knocking a great idea....I really DO think it would be a benefit.

I'm just not convinced a 'start-up' entrepreneur could pull it off without a TON of cash

In the beginning my plan would be to open 8 gyms, from the Seattle area, down I-5 to the L.A. Area. Someone would be onsite 24hrs a day to keep the gym cleaned, answer questions, sell memberships, etc. Its just in the planning stages so any and all opinions are welcomed!
