    I often see antenna springs but only on 4-wheel vehicles, such as when mounted to the bumper off a Jeep. This makes sense, especially if they're off-roading. But is there any reason to use one on a truck, such as for longer antennas?

    Lot of guys use them with 102" whips to get the added length so the whip will tune lower...personally I've never liked using springs.

    I have a 102 on a 10" shaft..Its extened almost all the way out to tune real close to 27.185..Swr part is all fine but im more concerned with resistance to keep near 50ohm as possible and resonance..
    Mine is off a lil but its enough to drive me nuts not knowing what to do..

    Springs are good for like 4ft fiber glass antennas,have a heavy duty firestik one,never had problems with it.

    Unless they are super stiff springs then the ant will lean back twards back side of trk cab or pick up box ect depending on what your driveing..Thats not doin your radiation pattern any good..
