This truck vin 1XP5DB9X34D829339 sold at auction for 24000. The guy told me he did absolutely nothing to it. He currently has it listed on ebay for 49.9k. Realistically it looks like he rattled canned over the frame rust and put newer driver tires on it. When I told Gale that he only paid 24k for the truck at auction he got real defensive and said he wishes he paid that. He paid a lot more than that and has the auction paperwork to prove it and he would be happy to send it to me. I said please send it to me so I know I'm not getting ripped off. One second later he changes his mind and says he doesn't want to sell me the truck. I have no problem with the guy making some money but 100% profit is just ripping people off. It was a lot easier to do before google. The mileage difference between the listings is 1433, that is almost the exact distance from that auction lot to the guys businesses.

Hate to tell you this but it happens all the time. Dealers buy them and clean them up with an aerosol overhaul on the frame, polish up the aluminum and a fresh set of Chinese drives and out the door they go.

He owns it and he can put whatever price on it he wants.
Same as negotiating with a broker. If you can’t settle on a price between the two of you, then move on. It’s just business.

    So what..
Add in auction fees, shipping, tires and whatever other expenses the buyer accrued..Then post back when the sale is made..

When you buy a truck from a dealer or anyone for that matter, you have no idea where that truck came from or how much they paid for it.

I'm not trying to be funny, but if you just looked at that truck and you had no idea where it came from or what he paid for it you might look at that and just say hey that's a good price and go pay for it and be happy. But you're upset because you were slick enough to figure out how much he originally paid for it.

That's just common sense, no offense. Someone will look at that truck and not know what he originally paid for it and someone very well may buy it at 45 and that's the way it goes, if that is close to the market value.

If you bought a truck for 24,000 that you were trying to sell for 50 would you tell people that you bought it for 24,000 and you're asking 50 or would you tell people that at 45 you're only making 2,000?

If he told you that he purchased the truck at 24000 but he wanted $50,000 for it, you'd offer him 25 and you would have an attitude giving him anything over 27.

So if you purchased it for 24 would you sell it to someone else for 30 so that then they could sell it for fifty? No, you would try to get as much as you could get because you got a good deal.

Now if he was trying to defraud you, like if he said the truck had a newly rebuilt engine and he produced false papers when the engine is ready to blow up pulling out of his lot, that's a different situation.

But buying something and reselling it for whatever profit that you can make, that's just sales.

But Jean Claude van DAM, I'm going to start going to the auctions!
