They’re talking about regular dock height 48 footers vs pup trailers aka 28 footers.

Freight levels seem to be dropping a little bit. My run was cut on Friday. Fortunately a senior driver wanted the night off and slid his run down to me so I ended up running the 500m meet. The weird thing to me, when I got to the relay point was probably 3/4 of the drivers pulling in had a pup and a dolly, but no kite.

I got to the meet point about 15-20 minutes before the meet driver arrived, so I had time to fuel up and when I called dispatch to "arrive" me at the location (my handheld was being difficult) I discovered that I was to take what the meet driver brought me (which was another pup and dolly), hook an empty and go to the hub that is 12 miles away to pick up another trailer for my center.

Gotta love that communication, it's a good thing you called I guess.

The first time I did a meet, the other driver brought me just one trailer and a dolly, and 100% of the bills on the trailer was city freight for the hub in my area. My dispatch instructions said to go back to my terminal, and my handheld said the same thing. Called central just to make sure and was told my dispatch is correct, I'm to bring it back to my terminal. I wanted to make extra sure I wasn't screwing up, so I called the dispatcher at the hub and turns out they definitely needed that freight and wanted the name of the dispatcher at central who told me otherwise so they could get the correct trip loaded.

They've been sending our PHX line driver single lately. I thought it was just because they've been trying to get rid of the 3-4 extra gears that somehow wound up at our yard, but now I'm intrigued. Maybe they're doing a company-wide equipment reset?

The reset thing crossed my mind. Lots of guys in the region singling out to the hubs to pull a full set back or vice versa. Who knows.

Now that you mention it, my terminal has a lot more dollies than usual. We had probably 40-50 in the dolly parking area, and that’s not counting the ones that the road drivers park behind their tractors. I’ve noticed drivers in the morning via-ing through have lately been dropping one trailer and a dolly then heading out with just a single.

Went into the weekend receiving a text message from a 650 area code number. I had previously applied to UPS in Salt Lake City a long time ago while seriously considering leaving the excrement hole of the northeast.

I figured that it was a robo text and wanted to mess with it. Much to my surprise they responded lol. I just wish I could make it work with a large family and stay at home wife, that pay progression is brutal.

Yeah, but the cost of living is way lower out here in most places.

No dispute there, but I don't think the cost of living is that much lower to be able to pick up and relocate for $42k on straight time. Counting on O/T always seems to be a recipe for failure.
