    I was kicked off a dedicated account because I declined, not refused, but declined to accept a pre assignment that would make me have to take my 34-hour reset in a Target parking lot. I told the dispatcher that I was out of clean clothes, that I needed to go back to the town that I now call home to take care of some very important matters ( I moved over a thousand miles from home to be a part of this dedicated account) and with only having less than 7 hours left on my 70-hour clock. I got the pre-assignment on my tablet but I never accepted it, never activated it. In fact, my NAT was already previously set by me for 2 days later -after my 34-hour reset anyway. The time that I did spend on that account, there were a few times that I was standing there in the office as the dispatcher and manager spoke poorly about other Schneider drivers. Things like " he has a bad attitude today, he can sit for a while" and " nobody ever likes that route, so I'll just have an over-the-road driver do it instead" although I am somewhat relieved to not have to be under a bully like that, I was finally going to be able to earn a living wage with Schneider. My previous over-the-road DBL told me a couple of things That driver manager on the dedicated account said about me simply because I, for once, chose to stick up for myself in a truly non-aggressive way. This manager abused her Authority and even though she told my DBL that I'm not cut out for being a driver just because I don't want to sit in a Target parking lot for two days, but the fact that this manager and her dispatcher tend to come into the office quite late apologizing for their tardiness with Starbucks cups in hands. On the contrary, it just doesn't seem like they're capable of what they're doing. You know, before that phone call when I called in to let my dispatcher know that there was a mistake, that I got a pre-assignment when I was off for the next 2 days. Before that call, they were extremely nice to me and always telling my old DBL and telling me what a great driver and worker I was and how they really appreciated me and all my help. That whole thing was very disappointing , to say the least, and wasn't ethical or humaine in any way. I'd never treat my staff that way. I think that the biggest reason why she did that was a power trip. Every time I spoke with the manager we talked about all sorts of things. She knew exactly what I was doing with my life by taking that account under her. And I just think that after the phone call, she spitefully ripped that opportunity away from me. Now I have a better understanding of what other Schneider drivers mean when they say that we are dispensable to our company. That dedicated account manager didn't even have the decency to call me or email me that she was cutting me from this account. No, my previous DBL called me to tell me. He was quite surprised that I didn't already know; that he was the one to tell me and not my dedicated driver manager.

    Are you trying to say that it's acceptable to be pushed around and mistreated by an employer and doing nothing about it makes you tough? LOL if that's the mentality of majority truckers then I'm really not surprised that truckers are so unappreciated and mistreated even in this day and age. Definitely seems very flawed if that's the mentality.

    You're right. I'm just going to go back to being a doormat which is also known as thick-skinned I guess. Hey I appreciate you stick in the truth to me. And I already know what the truth is for myself. But I also know that when something's not right, it's not right. This driver manager was barely out of high school and probably never had to support herself yet thought that she could take me off the account because I wouldn't give up my days off for her when she already knew that my NAT was set for two days later. I don't know, just seems like we should have some kind of rights or something. I'm majorly helped this office and I left my home to help them because they were sort of in a crisis and needing help. I didn't have to go there and I didn't really care to go there, but I just wanted to help my company out. Anyway, whatever, just seems pretty mucked up if you ask me

    I was told that the first year of driving is really bad. I have proven myself time and time and time again that I have what it takes to be a trucker. I don't complain to my DBL, I don't refuse to go anywhere, I stay out a few months at a time, and when I get enough miles to do so, I will drive almost 700 miles a day and I'm solo. I think what it comes down to is that I just need to put in my time (1 year), move on 2 maybe a smaller company but actually appreciate their drivers and doesn't screw them over when they feel like it. A company that pays closer to the drivers worth. or forgot heavens sake at least a a living wage. That would be really nice.

    During your 1st few years you’re trying to prove yourself~get some time under your belt don’t have no accidents, incidents do some research and find a better job than a mega carrier.

    This is the reality of trucking. These companies and brokers do not care about what you have going on. You may have told them what it was before you got there but as soon you get there, that goes right out the door. Yes Schnieder drivers are dispensable and so is every other driver in the industry. They have to move that freight. That's their number one priority and they are pretty big so they can move someone else in that role. Sometimes you have to take a reset in a less than desirable spot. It's the nature of the beast. You can't let your laundry get down to nothing. You have to anticipate the worst in trucking. If you have business to take care of, it's best to schedule it on Mondays or Fridays. If you schedule home business in the middle of the week, unless its court ordered, you're going to create problems for yourself.
