What's the best option for a SERIOUSLY dedicated driver in tactor/trailer? For their first year.
...and after they've gained experience?
OTR? Dedicated? Intermodal? Jet-set? Regional? Local?
Thank you!
What's the best position??

Good answer

That all depends on the individual driver and what he wants out of life among other things. No one answer fits all.

I used to drive chemicals. Why do you recommend it?FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

For the first year, it really doesn't matter. Companies like to see otr, but linehaul at any outfit, even one where you're home more frequently, will do.
After that? You need to specialize immediately. LTL, flatbed, tanker, etc.
The money is in specialization. There's no money in OTR any more, thanks to the mega carriers.
And the megas are coming for refrigerated, so keep that in mind. They're not really good at anything, but many customers will take good enough.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
I have one year of otr
-
That should typically be enough to get you a decent job. The really exclusive jobs like to see two years, but even those places make exceptions.FlaSwampRat and Julan91 Thank this.

What did you do after the year?
