Hi al!!
2016 Volvo D13. No CCV codes.
I read the many threads on here about leaking CCV units and how they can be cleaned and/or re-sealed.
Two questions... I took the entire unit out to inspect it. It is leaking from where the metal housing (the part that holds the filter) meets the engine.
The spinner spins freely with no issues... should I check for something else?
- Can the gasket there go bad and cause it to leak? (Gasket between engine and housing?)
- Where does that oil go that sits at the bottom of the housing? Inside the engine? Or is it supposed to come out from one of the hoses?

Just replace the gasket. and you will be fine.

Does the fact that the spinner is running freely when i turn it with my hand deems it in OK condition? I don’t want to put it back if it’s broken.
Also... what’s the engine opening for? This is for educational purposes. To let the oil back in the engine? -
its better you change that from to time, being that yours is newer is not super expensive the spinner goes and separates the oil coming from the crankcase and puts it back in there.

I will change the gasket and hope for the best. Thing leaks a lot! Hopefully this stops it.
Appreciate you! -
It will Volvo sickness that gasket gets dried up and pisses out oil.

Replaced mine last month as it was seeping. Pain in the butt, as I had to move the power steering fluid and oil filler, but not seeping now. Took most of the afternoon, just be slow in mating it to the engine and have a clean surface for the gasket. Now it isn't leaking and I hope it won't again.

Thank you for the tips. I took it apart already believe it or not. Pain to get the bottom left bolt out but it does work. Had to unscrew a few wires that go to the compressor and that’s it. Nothing else was on the way.
I will be doing this this weekend or the following one and update you all. -
It’s actually very easy remove ac belt , unbolt ac compressor. Remove top 2 and bottom rear bolt than grab ac compressor and move a bit out of the way so u can get a hold of the last bolt don’t need to remove anything else besides that.
