Seven widely documented mechanisms of chloride transport across plasma membranes are: anion-coupled antiport, sodium symport, sodium-potassium-chloride symport, potassium chloride symport, proton-coupled symport, an electrochemical coupling process and chloride channels. No direct genetic evidence has yet been provided for primary active chloride transport despite numerous reports of cellular Cl(-)- stimulated ATPases coexisting, in the same tissue, with uphill chloride transport that could not be accounted for by the four common chloride transport processes. Cl(-)-stimulated ATPases are a common property of practically all biological cells with the major location being of mitochondrial origin.

I thank all for the inputs to this problem I am having with my fan clutch. I hope it is under warranty. But I have learned with CAT that not everything is warranted. Anyone know for sure if this particular part is covered?
I'll be glad when all the bugs are worked out. 40K on the odometer and this will be the 6th time it's been in for problems. 4 times for emmision problems on the motor and once for a blown AC line.

The fan most likely won't be covered by Cat, You'll probably have to go to the maker of the truck.

it is probably either a horton or a kyser clutch which at 40,000 miles the part will be under warrantee but i doubt its the clutch it self it,s probably the solenoid or could be the a/c high pressure switch
-
Interesting that you say the ac high pressure switch. 2 weeks ago the ac high pressure side, blew a line. Pete fixed it under warranty. If there is a link that may well be it. I have little confidence in any of the work I have had done over the years by pete.. Seem to be a bunch of incompetents. IMHO

when you run the a/c the engine fan comes on via a pressure switch to maintain proper pressures in the system and those switches do go bad and that line blowing could happen because if the fan does not come on the a/c system pressure will go very high causing the hose to blow which is good(cheap) or the compressor (expensive) will self destruct.
those hoses usually blow for a reason unless they are very old
many mechanics are just parts changers and can't diagnose the causeLast edited: Jul 12, 2009

if you are going to a Rush Peterbilt then I suggest you find a different dealer to use even if you have to drive farther for it. I've never heard anyone that had something good to say about a Rush shop and I know I've never had good dealing with them

Been using The Pete store and been very unhappy. As someone sai, just parts swappers, and the Pete Store is clueless about diagnosing a problem.
Anyone Have a suggestion for a good Peterbilt dealer repair shop in the SC, TN, NC, KY or Va areas. Truck is new and so I need a peterbilt dealer to fix it.
thanks -
lynne same thing happened to my 05 pete fan would engage and not disengage replaced solenoid same problem got a rebuild kit for fan hub fixed it this weekend no more problems
