You have probably moved on to another truck or already purchased one, but there is a dyno in Grand Rapids, MI. Was looking at a truck in Kalamazoo MI last week & that is where they send theirs to get checked out.

I'm also looking at a 03 kw with an isx 450 in it (440k miles), for $22,900. I'm not sure if it has the egr on it but reading other post i'm wondering if this is the engine for a first time buyer or not?

That is the one I was looking at too! Seems like a decent deal, but wasn't digging the ecm replacement versus the mileage on the odometer. If I knew the dealer it would be a different story. They also would not produce the dyno sheet from where they had it dyno'd, just an analyses on the sale sheet which left me with some questions.

That ISX does have an egr valve on it.

I ran the VIN at a local KW dealer & they only showed a wheel bearing issue back in '04 as far as warranty stuff was concerned.

LBZ..thanx for the great info, i feel kinda silly admitting that i didnt notice a difference between the odometer and the ecm...mind if i ask what it was? all i have on the dyno is the numbers, they didn't offer so i didn't ask...thanx again for sharing this.

The ecm shows 104k I think, which may be totally accurate & quite possible. Just the feeling I got about not knowing where the truck came from then they suddenly knew that it sat on the lot for a year before it sold.

If they could produce the actual dyno sheet, or have another one done as well as if it passes oil analyses on everything with an oil in it, I would say go for it. Would push to have the four caps on the back replaced. Thinking you could get it in the $19-$21k range pending what you ask for.

Also noticed bondo/plastic underneath the hood on the passenger side, but at that point I didn't ask any more questions as I need to keep my wheelbase around 220" & that one is suppose to be 232". Never measured but know it is way beyond 220"...
