Seems like a good question to ask when meeting with the company, say in a job interview or something similar.

I drive for sunbelt in salem, or. I dont know what the other rental places or even the other sunbelt branches pay, i think each branch manager has leeway in his payroll. I do know that my boss takes care of me.
I wouldn't sweat the securement, you can pick that up quick with the right attitude. The driving, however, you had better be on your A game. At least at my branch, i go places that are genuinely stupid places to send a semi, and at times criminal☻. The janky little country roads and remote jobsites, to downtown Portland , and i mean downtown. I like it, its rarely boring, and it's a good step to heavy haul, which is where im going when they put me in a new truck. The new trucks are all autos. Im not sure what united specs. Theyre stuff is a bit different than ours around here.kylefitzy Thanks this. -
cke Thanks this.

No sunbelt does not do heavy haul. I meant that's my next trucking job once i leave sunbelt, hopefully.
I have seen United hauling a slightly oversize excavator once or twice around here. We do have a few machines that put me at 84K pounds, but it's not OD. -
cke Thanks this.

JD, sunbelt is like most trucking companies in that they are going to automatic transmissions, which i really think is a mistake, at least around here. Lotsa hills and we get offroad a bit. And it does rain just a little . I drove an auto loaner from another branch last month and it was a joke. I told my boss i wanted a 13 or 18 sp, he submitted it to corporate when it was time to get new trucks, corporate sent us back an email that demonstrated their ignorance. My boss stonewalled corporate to keep my 10sp truck around another year, but that's all he can hold them off for. So as silly as it is to lose , in my boss's words, the best driver he's ever worked with, over a transmission, that's what's gonna happen.
Whew, i feel better now. Thsnks for listening everyone.PoleCrusher, LoneCowboy, kylefitzy and 1 other person Thank this.
