Planning on getting a 2020 5700XE

I had a Western Star 4900SF, now have a Cascadia. The Cascadia is a lighter weight truck.
The Western Star was very solid, after three years of rough roads no squeaks or rattles. The 5700 has the same cab, just different front end.

 

On my first WS and it's a 2019 5700xe. I really like it , it has a Detroit d16 motor and the dd12 tranny which is the only thing that I don't like about the truck. My last 2 trucks were Volvos with the ishift, Detroit tranny is no where close to being as good as the ishift.

Hands down the star is a better built truck . Should have way better resale value then the crapcadia over time also.

 

My carrier runs a few older WS 4700EX's. Solid, dependable trucks. Running Cummins motors with 13 speeds hauling heavy steel coils on four and six axle conestogas.

Honestly, the only issues the trucks have are driver related.

 

The 5700 is a Cascadia with a Western Star cab. Pick the cab and hood you like.

 

Love my 2020 5700. Like any new truck a few minor issues. But 2nd 5700 and they hold up well and have good resale value. Good fuel mileage for what I do. Run from Omaha to west coast and back everyweek. DD15, 18 speed and 3.25 gear ratio and Cruse at 66mph life time average the last 100k has been 7.3 mpg.

I had a LOT of bad things to say about my 2013 4900 build quality, but my new 2020 seems to be better and I see lots of improvements in both the truck and the Detroit engine. No issues so far other than I had to replace the factory CB radio. It kept turning on by itself and making the most deafening high pitch scream through all the speakers that you could not stop. LOL.
