72 in a 55 Speeding Ticket

To be honest man, it was back in 2010 when I worked there. I believe Western is still pretty loose in their hiring. I worked in their flatbed division. My experience all n all was a good one. The cpm is not great but the endless miles made up for it. I never sat waiting on a load. I worked in the flatbed division. You're more likely to make a steady check running flatbed with them than dry van. With flatbed you would all 48. Dry van keeps their drivers either on the western half or eastern half. I could be wrong but it seemed that way when I was working there. I actually did well while I was there. I ran hard and ran to California and back a lot. My only complaint was that it was hard to get back home when burned out or needing to take care of business. I would say Western Express is a good company despite what the naysayers say on here. They're good to get started with

 

If it's still going to show on your MVR, don't waste money on a lawyer.
Contact some companies and ask if they'll hire you before spending any money.

 

Good a place as any to get the new career started. I know they get some bad press, but the training is good.
As long as they're ok with the ticket; make sure about that before making the trip.

 

If I can chip in here with my $.02 worth... I got a speeding ticket after I had passed the school and missed 1 on the final...the first day I was to report for work to go out with a trainer I got nailed while passing a truck on a two lane road. I was 15 over and the cop reduced it to 10 over and added on “passing too near an intersection”. I proceeded into work and went right into safety dept and fessed up. “Don’t get too many of those” was the reply, and then there was a lengthy discussion about following the law, etc. Fast forward a year and a half, I had completed my obligations with the training company, and secured a rather good local p&d job with Dayton Freight. Long story short, I got nailed 12 over, DOT cop this time, reduced it to 10 over. I lost my job. And I had high insurance rates as a result. I found another job, OTR, with a fairly good reefer company, and I was there until a year ago.
My point is, deal with this, learn from it, and do not speed. High fines, high insurance rates, and diminished opportunity is what a lead foot will get you. These days I’m in the right lane driving the speed limit, even in my personal vehicle. When I get back out on the road, I’ll be in the right lane driving the speed limit. Watch it going through towns and construction zones, too.
