That's my plan as well. I'm only 25 but I've made terrible financial choices including student loans for a degree I never completed and although I just recently got my dream job, it's still in my gut to go OTR. I'll never dig out of this hole while having to pay rent, a car payment, loans, etc. I'm going to voluntary repossess my car and get rid of all my non-essentials besides my cell phone and just stay out on the road, getting a hotel for 2-3 days once a month. Pay off my debts and just start putting back whole paychecks besides ~$100-150 a week for my cell phone and living off of.
I want to get my CDL and start trucking to get away from home. I've contacted Roehl so far and they only have a dedicated route for me where I'm home every weekend and getting only 2,000 miles a week. Doesn't sound very good to me so I will be looking into TMC, Prime, and maybe Swift. I don't want to sign on to a company that forces me to team like some of these CDL trainer carriers are doing. I couldn't stand the negativity and whining and crying of another miserable person because they aren't home every weekend to drink beer and beat their wife and kids.

Why not sell the car instead of the repo thing?

I have been without a residence for the last six months. I stay out a minimum of six weeks and then stay at a hotel or visit family. It is truly an unmatched way to save money, I would say: no rent/mortgage, no utility bills, etc
However, long term may be a problem. Certain things, mostly government-related, demand a physical home address. I know there are some full-time RVers that have worked around this fact, but from what I've read, problems sometimes still arise.
Also, I miss having a place with my own stuff.
I'm hoping to make a decision in the next couple of months on whether to continue being a nomad. Would love to hear the experiences of others.Last edited: Oct 24, 2019

The last time I did the nomad style living, I was single and everything I owned would fit behind the seat, on my gunrack and in the crossbed tool box on my single cab ford pickup, except my dirtbike which fit behind the box. lol
I got married in 77, and not long after that a 53 foot van would not have held all my junk. lolbzinger, dwells40, singlescrewshaker and 3 others Thank this. -
This is the lap of luxury where I spend about 3 weeks out of the month. I apparently like it enough to keep doing it..BigDog Trucker, rachi, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this. -
