Sure, if you can relocate to another area that's good for your career.
If you move to another state, you'll have to switch your cdl to that state. That's a simple process except in California or Illinois.
Get all the endorsements including TWIC.

Clean Harbors has hired a new cdl school grad on occasion. Not often, but sometimes.
Worth checking into. Face to face at a terminal with a cdl and all endorsements is best with a company like this.

UAW is the Union for the workers that make the cars. Teamsters are a different union which haul the cars. Don’t be afraid of a job because it is Union. I worked union for nearly 30 years and did so mainly because the jobs I picked were the best paying I could get my hands on and they happened to be union. I am non union now because the carrier I am leased to is non union.

That said there are plenty of non union jobs nowadays that pay as good as some union jobs and some actually pay better. If you plan to make a career out of trucking my picks would be as follows. Side note you will probably not be able to start at some of these jobs without having to pay your dues in some manner. It could be getting experience elsewhere and then getting hired. It could be starting in the warehouse loading and unloading trucks first.
1. UPS parcel will be the best paying and most secure career you will ever get as a company driver. Most cities don’t hire off the street drivers. Some bigger hubs will hire experienced tractor trailer drivers. Some cities are currently hiring package car drivers who make as much as tractor trailer drivers and then they will train you to drive tractor trailers. Some cities it would take you many years loading and unloading trucks before you would ever drive a package car or semi. You will need to research this to find out yourself how Buffalo is as I am not certain.
2. ABF Freight dock to driver program. You work for them at a decent rate while gaining experience moving trailers around on their yard. If you work out eventually they will train and pay you to get your CDL. There are several LTL companies who will also do this depending on their needs. Fed Ex Freight, USF Holland and many more LTL companies.

3. Cassens is one of the better carhaul companies in your area, but I wouldn’t haul cars in Buffalo. Too much snow for me and this would make an already difficult job suck. But just my opinion. You probably need to try and decide if you plan to make trucking a career or just a job until you find something better. If you plan to make it a career then you shouldn’t mind paying you dues first to ultimately get the best job possible, which will by far be UPS. I know because I spent 10 years there. If I was young when I hired in there I would have stayed until the end of my career, but I had always wanted to be a carhauler and that is what I did. It worked out great for me, but definitely isn’t for everyone.
