I replaced 6 sets of injectors since 2007, on my 2 trucks with D13 but I don't remember having regen side effects symptoms.
I have some problems with regen, smoking first 3-5 min, and wont reach regen temp in cold , have to do parked. Last year I put a Durafit aftermarket DPF filter after, few months wont pass flow test, we tested few new and had same problem , wont create enough back pressure.
Last week i purchased a RoadWarrior, like you mentioned, i did flow test it, it passed and instaled it, but after first regen i still have some smoking, not as bad.
Today, i got an inactive code MID128 PPID328 FMI7, points to aftertretment shutt off valve stuck closed, its inactive i cleared it, Never had problems with this, so i stopped at Volvo and purchased it, 253$+taxes , just in case it will stop regening
It's this valve , i have a photo on my phone last year instaling reman, but mine is 2010, on your truck is different , like in link bellow.
See what the guys from OTR are saying , won't do any passive, active or parked regen if faulty, makes sense it controls and regulates fuel pressure to 7th injector. They have a video on how to replace it.I'm thinking if this could mess your passive regen?
What is an AHI Dosing Module on Volvo / Mack engines? (3-minute read)
PLEASE HELP!

my truck does a parked regen with ZERO issue. I believe my fuel pressure at the 7th injector was approx. 68 psi. I am going off the top of my head on that. But, I have never had an issue with parked regens.

Why would run parked but not passive regen? does fuel air injection pressure change in this two mode of operating? I don't know how does AHI work; Is the air pressure just pushing the diesel into 7th injector, or works like an air paint gun( i see it has a bulky can in the bottom) mixing with air in AHI ,like in a carburetor, before heading into 7th injector? If so may need a certain optimal fuel/air ratio and it has lots of things that can go wrong, valve sensor, connectors, air supply, mine has a mesh like filter inside could get clogged.
2011-2012 mp7 and 8 diesel doser module
09 mp8 in Chu no regen
Another reason to point to AHI , see what the manufacturer is saying about vehicles operating like yours, local regional, lots of stop go idling.
"In many cases, particularly if the vehicle is operating at higher speeds on motorways, the exhaust temperature alone will be sufficient to cause the oxidation of the collected soot. However in some instances there may not be sufficient exhaust heat — when the vehicle spends extended periods at idle or low operating speeds or is operating in low ambient temperatures — to trigger a needed regeneration. The integrated AHI system has been specifically designed to compensate for those periods, the company said."

I was under the impression the 7th injector was only used during a forced or parked regen. Am I wrong?

I'm not familiar with your truck, not sure if you are right or wrong, i understand from 2011 they eliminated active regens, but from i read in the link above , AHI module still injects fuel in exhaust if needed.
"Over time, the amount of soot on the DPF will build up the point where regeneration is required. In many cases, particularly if the vehicle is operating at higher speeds on motorways, the exhaust temperature alone will be sufficient to cause the oxidation of the collected soot. However in some instances there may not be sufficient exhaust heat — when the vehicle spends extended periods at idle or low operating speeds or is operating in low ambient temperatures — to trigger a needed regeneration. The integrated AHI system has been specifically designed to compensate for those periods, the company said. Controlled by the engine’s electronic control unit (ECU), the AHI system receives a signal when it needs to dose the hydrocarbon — diesel fuel — into the exhaust stream. The signal will open a series of valves in the unit, which injects the fuel into the exhaust. The fuel reacts chemically with the hot exhaust gas, which raises the temperature of the exhaust significantly, causing the soot on the DPF to be burnt away. The overall aim, Racor said, is to have the capability to burn off excess soot no matter where or how the vehicle is operated"

I found this about the volvo passive regen
"The system is designed to require very little driver interface to maintain correct operation. The technology utilizes a aftertreatment DPF passive regeneration; requiring no fuel to be injected to clean the DPF"86scotty Thanks this. -

And the drama continues! New injectors installed last thursday. Last 2 days truck would just crank in the AM. had to reprime the fuel system. back to the shop today to get the injectors done...AGAIN...

Oh man,Sorry to hear!
Why did Volvo name it D13? there's no 13th floor in North America ,here in Ontario the gov skips #13 in roads highways markings. Add some holy water additive.
Did you notice a fix in your regen issue with new injectors?
Make sure they upload the new injectors trim codes. I had all kind of troubles last year with emission faults, low power and bad fuel economy for a couple of months after i changed motor. My reman came with injectors instaled , no new ecm , but the technicians just swapped the old ecm without uploading new injectors trim codes , even the Volvo shop foreman said wont make a difference , they dont bother with trim codes after replacing injectors. But actually did huge difference, it start pulling better and fuel economy jumped from 6,5-7 to 8-9 mpg.Last edited: Oct 31, 2019

Wow, really curious to see how this ends.
