Didn't take notice. There were rvs on state, a bunch on 23.

My kid and I ran into Seger a few months back, maybe a year ago while we were in the check out line at one of the box stores, maybe it was Walmart in saline. it is amazing that people act stupid when they see who it is.

So I got a bird perch mirror mount, 4 bolt clamp and a 4' firestik

It's all hooked up. Swr on channel 1 is much higher than 40. This is with a brand new antenna that hasn't been cut yet. So I'm thinking my mount isn't grounded. Now I'm reading from Roger Wilco that you shouldn't run a ground strap on your mount.

All I know is I've spent about $300 and this #### doesn't work. Why the #### can't this stuff, at this price, be built to just plug in and use.

What is the swr? Do you have the antenna angled forward ? Have you tried an on air test?

Who said you shouldn’t add a ground strap?

Did you replace the coax and what did you replace it with?

Ever heard of common current mode?

It sounds like that is one of the problems.

    What is the swr readings?

What does "much higher" mean? Don't sweat anything @ 2:1 or lower.

On my pickup, channel 40 is usual higher than channa 1 when the antenna is resonant.

Don’t rely on the internal SWR meter in the radio, they’re not very accurate. Always use an external SWR meter to take your readings.

Or better yet, use an antenna analyzer if you have one available.
