Still haven't heard anything official, but the rumor is that the next bid will be effective as of Dec 1st. Another rumor is that we will be able to bid on Ground runs (year round, not just for peak). Are either of those true?
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
I simply can't believe that they would intermingle the businesses like that, but anything is possible. I think it would actually be a positive step for FedEx, given their current treatment of Ground contractors (and especially subcontract drivers). It would be good to see those runs given to properly-paid employees.dwells40 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this.

This pay stub was a miserable week, mentally. Workwise, enjoyable. Just a mental drain. My run was cut 4 times this past week, 3 of which I ended up with a dock bid and lower miles, the 4th day no run at all and sat home, but I opted not to use personal time and took the hit. Still a better check than being in the city, and when you break it down for all hourly, task and mileage, the week ran at $1.05 per mile, compared to my highest grossing check year to date (not including the semi-annual bonus) ringing in at $0.91 per mile.
Yes, I'm a goober that likes to break my checks down to a per mile basis just for kicks.Attached Files:

I was pretty surprised when I heard that this was a thing, too. Myself and a couple others at my terminal are on the volunteer sheet for Ground runs if and when they are available to my center. From what my center manager tells us, we would bobtail to a Ground hub while hourly, punch out and then have central push linehaul runs to us like normal. Only downside to this, is not pulling my own dolly, which is almost brand new so I have to find a hiding spot in the yard to make sure a driver coming through on a via doesn't swap his dolly for mine.
I vaguely remember reading about UPSF pulling small pack trailers during peak. Am I right about that or am I losing my marbles?LtlAnonymous and jmz Thank this. -
We've already been having Ground contractors take our freight in my area (along with half a dozen other truckload carriers), so it isn't too big of a stretch to see it go both ways.McUzi and LtlAnonymous Thank this.

In some areas that is practiced by UPS, yes.McUzi Thanks this.
