    Fontaine's have what looks like a bolt sticking out the opposite side from the release handle for adjustment. Rebuild kits are available and not too difficult to install. Sometimes in cold weather the grease would stiffen up so much, I would have to physically push the handle in to lock it after "hitting it harder"...

    Had one of ours do that. Ran it thru a wash rack and steam cleaned it. After a thorough greasing it worked fine.

    Several years of gunk and old grease froze up and caused it not to completely lock.

    I do have from an extremely good source. Also verified by another extremely good source.

    When having to hook up during a snow storm. When you're dealing with ice and snow. It's a bad problem. The one thing this source said would work best is: To make sure you put excessive amounts of grease on the king pin.
