No problem, and best of luck! I started out as an auto mechanic myself - the best part is that this job is a heckuva lot easier on your back!

Thanks for your positive posting !
I have Bad Influence inked down my right arm ,that maybe why I read this first.
I just received my call from werner ,they asked me to start within a week. I am in the middle of relocating to Az from Nj and I need two weeks, They seem ok with that !
Ive been a union driver for the better part of twenty years and line haul for the last4 .
So here I go again, Thanks Skip -
Well I'm happy to announce that I finished my orientation today with Werner at the Phoenix Az plant. All in all it went well. Got all of my CBT's out of the way and I'm now have to call around 8:30am tomorrow to see if there is a trainer for me. I made it a point to ask a few times how long I'd have to wait to be contacted. They made it very clear that from this point on I'm being paid everyday on salary. And that the longer they take the more money they spend. So we will see how long it really does take to get that call. Part of me wishes i got a hotel room on there dime because I have been told by other drivers that if they are paying a daily hotel for a trainee that they move even faster. I guess we will have to see. As far as the orientation goes I'll have to say that Jordy was very informative and did a great job at making sure we understood everything about company policy and so forth. So I guess from here on out we will see how it goes and i'll keep everyone informed if they are interested.

Rumor has it that a memo was sent out that as of June 1, 2009 trucks are not to be turned in for a new one until they hit 500,000 miles. But who wants a new International anyway?
It use to be a couple of years ago, once a truck hit 300,000 (solo) or 400,000 (trainer) then it was a turn in for a new.luvtheroad Thanks this. -
BadInfluence,
Thank you for posting this about Werner. As a wife of a new driver with Werner it is very encouraging to know. You hear so much on this you begin to wonder.
I have a few questions for you.
How long did it take for you to test out? I read on hear they tell you 6-8 weeks but its more like 12?
How did you get your dedicated route right off the bat? This is what my husband wants. He has heard from people that it is hard to get. I have some health problems and it would be easier for both of us if he is home more often.
Do you have to do run New York City to make your 1100 paychecks as someone stated on hear? If you do what do other dedicated routes pay?
Also he heard this today from his trainer that you make more driving solo than with team driving. Is that true as far as you know?
Thanks again for all your insight and help for more of us to understand things at Werner.
