CHP Bakersfield tweeted that Southbound 99 is still closed following the deadly semi-truck crash. Officials are urging drivers to avoid the area due to lane closures and congestion.
Two people are dead following a crash on southbound Highway 99, just south of Rosedale Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Four vehicles, including three semi-trucks and one pick-up truck, were involved in the crash which happened around 12:30 p.m Friday. Officials said one of the semi-trucks failed to yield to traffic and ended up hitting the pick-up truck and another semi causing the multi-vehicle deadly crash.
Two people that were inside the pick-up truck were pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP.
Hazmat crews were also called to the scene because 200 gallons of diesel spilled onto the roadway from one of the trucks.
All lanes of southbound 99 were closed Friday afternoon, CHP said. Officials were also rerouting drivers off southbound 99 and onto Golden State Highway. The 99 northbound bypass lane was also closed, officials confirmed. There is no update on when the lanes will reopen.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
