Business registered in GA, driver license in NY

    Hello, quick question.

    My business is registered in GA, where i have an office Space and I am set to register my truck/trailer next week. My IFTA, insurance and titles all have the GA address, my driver is based out of GA but my drivers license is from NY. Will i be able to register the truck and trailer

    If he based out of GA he legally obligated to get a GA cdl. I think its within 30days...

    They are 2 separate things. Like @Snakeschasingcars says, if the driver is based in a state, the CDL needs to be in that state. But registering the truck and trailer will have nothing to do with the driver's CDL.

    I would say you probably can, I think. At least in TX the registration has nothing to do with the license of the person registering it. I don’t think I ever had to give them my license.

    Just call your state office to confirm and then you’ll know.

    I’m pretty sure there won’t be an issue. It’s the GA business trying to register the truck and trailer. It’s not your NY person trying to.

    I live in Ny. My company is in NY. I have 8 drivers. None in NY. All trucks are registered in NY. Hope that helps.
