No, not at all. Those trucks couldn't move forward if they were to stop on a grade. The International and Freightliner did that; not the Volvo's.

What year international was this and was it the 10 speed auto? I have stopped on grades multiple times. Never had the problem you are talking. It hesitates and takes it a second or two but it will pull ahead.

I don't know; the company decided to replace their fleet with Volvo's.

The company I am with pulls smooth bores and compartment trailers. All company trucks are 13L 450/455 how. They are going to a all automated fleet. We also run super singles all the way around. I run loads to the PNW and Western parts of Canada. I have not had any trouble with the tires in the snow. We run a mix of Mack, International, and Pete's.

I pulled a smooth bore with a low roof volvo with the d13 and a 10 speed.

truck was fine I guess, had a lot of issues but I think they bought a lemon and our shop sucked. Under different circumstances I think the truck would have been fine. It was a light and comfortable truck though.

48,000 seems to be the industry standard for food grade tanker
Heavy Indian River and Oakley run heavy. I was told 48,000 was industry standard when I worked for Johnsrud. Oakley and Indian River buck that trend. Oakley could only haul around 47,000 with 630 Volvos. The 730's 46,000. Indian River has such a mashup of trailers and those 579's are heavy. So I think it's safe to assume under 48,000.
