We all need to stop the jokes.

If I can figure out a way to give more detail I will. I can understand the anger that everyone is feeling. But in the end, it is unjustified.

I don't rat on anyone and NEVER did. This IS NOT a rat issue.

Here is a story that some would probably call me a rat on. In the beginning it wasn't my concern, but I was speaking up for a friend of mine who cowarded down. I ain't no coward & probably have the biggest mouth in the World... So I let it slide.

Couple years a buddy & I were rolling South on I-95 in North Carolina. He was going home to Fayetteville & I had to be in Brunswick, GA by morning light. It was around 1:30 or 2 in the morning, we both were tired & just making small talk to help keep us awake. Then out of no where another man joined the conversation. This other man wasn't very nice, but I kept my mouth shut because he wasn't talking to me. He was making racist comments to my buddy. Did I mention that my friend is a man of color? Anyhow, my friend wouldn't acknowlege him & I got sick of hearing that crap.

So I spoke up. Took the attention off my buddy. One thing led to another & the next thing I knew, me & this not so friendly truck driver were pulling over on the side of the highway. This man stumbled out of his truck. Walked back to mine & began begging me not to hurt him (I'm 5' 10" 250 pounds & not much fat). We exchanged words & then I smelled alcohol. Asked him how much he had to drink & why he was driving? His response was that he probably had to much & he had a load that had to go.

I let him go. Made sure he was in front of me. As we pulled onto the highway, I call NCHP. It took about 10 miles, but 2 state trooper showed up & pulled us both over. He blew 3 times the legal limit & was arrested onsite. He couldn't even pull his truck off the road. The patrol officer asked me to get it on the shoulder so it wouldn't cause a accident. As I was moving the vehicle I counted well over a case of empty beer cans. I bet he wanted to beat my ### after that... I even said that as I was walking past the patrol car where he could hear me.

Am I a ratt for doing that? Probably. Was it my business. That was my business because I witnessed the situation & took a impaired driver off the road that night.

OK...You can stop any time you'd like...

Just say it...Are you a paranoid little man or what?

You just want to rat but can't quite grow the balls to pull the trigger...

So just for conversation, why do you think smoking crack or being under the influence makes it your business but sleeping 3 hours per 24 hours and being awake the other 21 hours doesn't make it your business?

And no, i don't think you were a rat in that instance.

Black, the other drivers or people at the company may be reading the forum too. Did you ever think about that? Like I said, if I can figure out a way to give more info, I certainly will.

Redd - that's an interesting story. Sure, you "ratted" on the guy - but I think it was 100% the correct thing to do. This guy was running a good risk of killing someone/himself. But at what point (not a jab at you, just a general question in this line of conversation) does ratting on someone become UNjustified? Where do you draw the line?

Edit: l.b. you must have been typing that as I was adding mine, I think its a valid question. Is one more inherently dangerous than the other? They could both lead to similar outcomes. But I'm sure the number of drivers driving illegally (in terms of HOS/etc.) HUGELY overshadows the drivers that are driving drunk or otherwise UI. The latter are a lot more likely to cause harm than the former, but I don't know if you can put numbers to it.
