This quote is from a study that's kinda old but in my short research I couldn't really find a recent one.
"They found that people who drive after being awake for 17 to 19 hours performed worse than those with a blood alcohol level of .05 percent. That's the legal limit for drunk driving in most western European countries, though most U.S. states set their blood alcohol limits at .1 percent and a few at .08 percent."

Like I said, we are dealing with snakes here; If they know, then the cover up begins immediately. They think things are peachy-keen about the situation and with me. They DO NOT deserve advance notice about ANY investigation(s).
This IS NOT a situation where someone is "just" running illegal. There is much more to it than that. In fact, other drivers have run illegal and I was like, more power to them. -
Studies & Statistics don't tell you anything. The numbers get manipulated so badly. I am not like you & you are not like me. We have 2 different bodies that require different eating, drinking, sleeping, & pooping habits.kelgar50 Thanks this.

Is it truly that bad that you are scared to tell us what happened without giving names? If it is that bad... Then cut your losses. Separate yourself & find a different employer. Let them fall on their own... And they will when it is their time.statikuz Thanks this.

I'm definitely not saying that by driving for 21 hours you PERSONALLY are equally impaired as a person over the legal alcohol limit - nor are people that are over the legal limit necessarily as impaired as someone who has only been driving for 10 hours. I'm just saying that it CAN be equally dangerous, which I don't think is arguable.

Yes, sleep deprivation can be every bit as dangerous as drugs or alcohol.statikuz Thanks this.

Back a few years ago I used to run my ### off, as many hours as I wanted to. I would tell the most outrageuos lies in my book and get away with it every time...I was a hard runner! The company I was leased to at the time knew about it, The other leasers knew about it and you know what?
It didn't concern them because it was none of their business!
Now (mostly by choice) I run pretty much legal and don't take the "chances" that I used to. But all of those years of takin' "chances" added up to Three million miles without an accident of any kind and only a couple of speeding tickets! I've NEVER had a governed truck other than one time when I thought for a minute that I wanted to drive for a big company...It didn't last long and I went out and got another truck and went back to what I do best...TRUCKIN'!
Snivelers offend me to my core! This used to be an industry full of strong men (and women) doing a tough job that we knew was tough when we took it.
If someone like you showed up, They didn't last long and their exit wasn't usually very graceful. Say what you have to say or shut the hell up! -
l.b., I don't know where you are from, but around here, an employee with a personal vandetta will be classified as a distraction to normal functions, and terminated.
You may be thinking of yourself as a whistle blower, but there is a fine line. How do you know they don't already know and condone his actions?
Do you really like working for a company that lets this type of thing happen? Are they such a great company to work for? I don't know how long you have worked there, and don't know how much you are risking by pushing the envelope, but if you want to continue to work there, I'd just steer clear of the situation. It might work itself out on it's own, without your assistance. -
It depends on the persons body. You can not take a study of body habits from college sorority girls & apply those same results to me.
