More weight equals safer roads and better fuel economy?:biggrin_2554:

Fine. We get heavier trucks. Try pulling that slick move again, four wheeler.

Haven't figured this one out yet. They want to increase weight on trucks but are also working on a mandate to lower the stopping distances by a large amount :biggrin_2554:? I may not be very smart but i don't think they can do both.:biggrin_25512:

That doesn't really seem surprising - your average driver doesn't know or care or understand the weight of a big rig, their only experience with them is the size.

I haul 97,000 lbs or heavier up here, and we don't have problems, Canada has always allowed more weight than the US.

We also have more LCV's up here but of course we don't have anywhere near the amount of people or traffic that the US has.

Not necessarily but the market research companies that do that sort of thing do try to be "demographically and geographically representative of the national adult population." Just like TV show ratings, presidential approval ratings, etc. - should all be taken with a grain of salt but are generally a good starting point.

I don't get how this would benefit anyone but the shippers who will ship more freight at the same rates while putting more wear and tear on the trucks, roads and causing more and worse accidents due to increasing the stopping distances. As said, it is blatantly obvious that the average American has no idea what impact increasing the weight limit would have -- as long as the trucks don't get bigger and in their way, they don't care what they do. Typical.
