And you'll idle at 2000 rpm with an air dryer spitting every 10 seconds at 80 decibles, right?:yes2557:

I'm one a the guys who doesn't sleep well anywhere. Speaking of air dryers and 2000 RPM, why don't drivers turn on the fan when idling - instead of letting it cut on and off all #### night! Cools better too...

Only thing that happens when you ramp the idle RPM's and engage the manual fan is waste fuel.
There are no better cooling benefits to be had, just noise and wasted fuel.

Optimal cooling comes from clean cabin/bunk filters
and the use of the recirculation option located on the HVAC control panel.Night or day,cab curtains also aid in temp control.

If we can't stop crack ###### from beating on our doors a 3am and waking us up what makes you think we got a chance against this idle thing?

I try not to idle if I can help it.....
Now here's a trick that always works and keeps CARB confused....

Back in or pull in depending where you park, between two running reefers.....That'll put you to sleep (reefers in stereo always puts me to sleep) and CARB can't hear your rig idling....

    otherhalftw Thanks this.

it's not the LEO that is going to stop you from idling, it's your company's accountant! That 10 gallons of fuel you will save is WAAAAAAAY more important to them than your comfort or ability to get adequate rest!

    otherhalftw and photolurp2 Thank this.

They actually do this in NY state on 19. It ain't perfect but the guys near the entrance do warn everyone when a bear is coming. I think they had trucks at the cb shop down the street and the video store up the street watching too last time I was up there.

Owner's manual says fan wasn't designed for continuous operation. Not sure how much credit to give it, probably just Peterbilt trying to get out of warranty replacements.
