I grease individual wires but I’ve never packed a bunch of wires in grease

Correct. The way that it helps connectivity is that it keeps moisture away from the connection, which would otherwise cause a gradual reduction in the electrical conductivity of the connection.
The dielectric grease does not conduct electric current well at all, just as you said. 100 points for Oxbow. -
Pretty common from what I've seen of trailer plugs. I think it's a Canadian thing. Lots of water and road salt makes for bad corrosion, which is why the plugs are gobbed in it, then very well wrapped in electrical tape to seal them away.
I think it just makes a mess and more difficult to fix (my fingers were slipping everywhere, I had to wipe a large portion of it off to even be able to do anything). -
Right, dielectric grease is nonconductive and prevents galvanic corrosion from lowering conductivity of the connection. They do make conductive greases, copper paste for instance.

Oxbow scooped up all the points for that question. Should have been faster on the buzzer stwikie.

So that’s what exactly.....a SKS dressed up as a AK? Did it come packed in grease like mine?

That's been my experience. We put it in our 7 wire plugs and have very few connection problems.Westbound23, 1951 ford, Feedman and 19 others Thank this.

Nice, reminds me of a SKS
