......one more question. My dialectic grease has always been clear. Looks like silicone. That stuff is black. Has anyone seen a dielectric grease look like that?

 

All that I have used has been clear.

 

Type 81 was a combo of sks, ak, and dragunov made by the chinese. This is a new 81 not a surplus. Light oiling on it, not heavy cosmoline like my mosin.

I think I might buy a stripped AR lower before something happens. Its only 100$. Might be able to make money if a buyback happens.

 

They may have used gun grease or it may have been contaminated. Bad seal or heat from arcing will turn it black. I use dielectric on connectors and plugs but use Vaseline on bolt on connections unless I don't have it with me then use gun grease. Used gun grease for years even before it had the polymers it has today to resist water.

 

I've only seen/used clear dielectric....

...the stuff should be in everyone's toolbox.

Someplace round here I have some used tanning bed bulbs from when I switched mama's out....

Send me a address and we might be able to turn that lily brown....

So is that clip pinned? If not, how is that big mag legal?

I have a SKS because it was cheap but honestly I don’t have much use for the round. With that small shell casing, It’s little more than a pellet gun. I like my Mosin better
