Talking to those from cali we had as customers, if they had owned the dairy in cali, for s few years, they could sell out and pay off their cows, plus the move and sometimes even buy the dairy in Texas outright with the equity they had in the cali dairy. plus the tax deal, it really was a no brainer to move out. lol

Tell that to all the WI dairy farmers I've brought wheat straw for "bedding" that just gets mixed in with their food, lol.cke Thanks this.

They do that to increase dry matter, it has nothing to do with the RFQ of the hay it’s just to get volume into the cow. I fed it some when I milked

I always found it funny when they would import it as "bedding" on customs, so the customs cost would be lower, but as soon as they are pulling it off the truck, they are splitting bales and throwing it in with the feed mix.
But they did like the fact New Hope tarped every load, so they wouldn't show up soaked and musty.cke Thanks this. -
I’d do the same thing if I were importing it, that’s just business
-
Oh of course, and I'm pretty sure the CBP know about it but really can't do anything about it.cke Thanks this.

We had the contract for the Dallas zoo for years, even the bedding had to pass the same test as the feed hay, and be bright green, just in case an animal took a bite of it. lol
