Millis OTR journal

@MACK E-6 any idea why I cant PM anyone? Am I grounded for something and not even know I did it? Lol

 

This helps me a lot. I have over 8 years OTR experience, but have been out of a truck now for a few years. (Local, non driving job that pays really really good) Anyways, I've been researching Millis for a long time and intend to actually go through their school (because of no RECENT experience) There are a few companies that would hire me with no school, but Millis does things so well, I'm willing to go through the school just to drive for them. (I still have my CDL-A with all endorsements and can drive any truck they got, but unfortunately they require that RECENT experience. Long story short, I was shocked and worried about the buyout, because before long this local job may be drying up and I may be going back to the OTR life. I miss it anyway.

 

Get up early, avoid Atlanta traffic. Let's see how long I just sit in the Smuckers lot. Hour and a half so far.

 

Better to just be sitting in Smuckers lot with 70hr clock not moving, than sutting in Atlanta traffic watching $$$ bills get pissed away just sitting....

 

Which school location would be attending? When would you be considering starting school? Im a trainer here and after that last student i had I could use an easy student who's already driven before lmao jk @packersfanmw87 but I'm being serious bout being interested in taking an "experienced " driver as a student.

 

I’m a relative newb to this whole Truck driving thing, have had CDL now for a year. Went through Millis school.
Lol I have only made a handful of right decisions in my life and starting out with Millis is one of them.

I’m a talker once I back in and if another driver is sitting next to me I try and strike up a conversation. You wouldn’t believe how many “old timers” make less than this rookie. Money is important probably the most but Millis does so many little things right also.

 

That’s what happens when you take time off, they move in others to fill in,for your whiteclaw run.

Myself, well I'll just put it to you like this. I havent showered at a truck stop going on 3.5wks now as I've been home every night or every other night for past 3.5 wks lo . Lacrosse/Memphis/Minnesota just left Memphis this morning but headed to GA and dropping this Smyrna in CVille. Was home all day yday and got to watch my twins last flag fball game. May have to go ahead and shower in CVille tonight just to see if I can make it a full month without having to shower in a truck stop lol.

Yeah after I posted saw it was packersfan heading most likely to Fairburn. Couple weeks ago it seemed I was sitting in both morning and afternoon rush hour in Atlanta every few days. Thank God I’m out of that lane.
Also it seems they are putting docks on the back of the whse in Memphis. Maybe that will “normalize” things here.
