They need to wave a green flag like the Indy 500 in that case...
Anyone else see that Roger Penske is buying the Holman companies including the Indianapolis motor speedway and the NASCAR, Indy race and future F1 events?
Some maybe remember the tumultuous spilt in Indy car around 1996. Indy car was bigger than NASCAR back then.
Could be interesting

To be appreciated. To be treated well. To be liked. That is worth a whole lot! I'd sure be thinking hard about leaving. Besides... Jostling is a blast. I had the pleasure of driving one for a day. Then you can switch if you want. I admit, I wouldn't want to keep jostling.
I'm sort of the same situation. My O/O really really wants to keep me. The reason is money.
We have one run that is a hassle. But they would pay for wait time on the test very well. Now that they know I'm happy to do them. The come up with excuses to not pay wait time on the test. I end up waiting but no detention time pay? Ends up using two days time. But with wait time it pays like two runs. When I could be doing another run that I could literally do recaps on every day, endlessly.
So the other night. This company ordered a bunch of trucks. I was waiting behind 5 trucks to unload. No wait time? My O/O had left earlier. He was near the front. He texted me to put down my wait time. Regardless of what 'they' say. I am confident he did some talking to the plant about the customer. Telling them he's losing me because of stuff like this. Yes he is.
He really doesn't want to lose me.
EDIT: I didn't mention... I waited from 7:30pm to Midnight before I could unload.Last edited: Nov 6, 2019

Your post reminds me of my having to get a girl in Vegas at the T/A fired.
I tried to use the scale. I wasn't like most using the scale. I had gotten a ticket in St. George on trailer tandems overweight. I was there checking it. Well...
I got on the scale. This girl just kept telling me with a Joisey accent to: "Get off the Scale"... "Just get off the scale!" .... I went in for my scale ticket. Same attitude. Gave me a completely screwed up weight. She signed it.
I went to another scale and weighed. It verified Utah. Let me know my other weights.
I wasn't gonna let this girl get away with this. I delivered in Van Nuys. On the way back I stopped in Vegas at T/A. I talked to the Manager of the entire place. Also the fuel house manager.
You can imagine what happened.
I wasn't like most. I had a previous weight. And a post weight. I had to help management. Had this girl pulling this on people weighing? No.... just no...
EDIT: To those of you looking for an excuse to be critical. There is no adjustment of trailer tandems on a pneumatic trailer. That issue is a whole nuther post...RidgeRunner731, D.Tibbitt, thelushlarry and 2 others Thank this. -
I really like the yard job. It gets stressful at times but it's pretty easy going and your backing skills get awesome really fast. The only part I don't like is when the delivery trucks all seem to come in at one time, there is no room and you have everyone's headlights blinding you (turn em off in the yard). They have me coming in 2 hours earlier today and the plan is to try to move that up even more. I told them if I came in at like 11 I would have the yard to myself and could get everything pre staged that's already in the yard and the doors filled so there would be less running mid shift. Then I could pair the bulk tractors with the correct trailers a solid hour and half earlier and start the end of night paperwork as soon as I park route trailers saving another solid hour off the end of night work. They seem to be open to these ideas so if they are willing to let me try to tweak the system some more I'll give it a shot.

Trucking company spends money, Yard boss decides what goes out and comes in.
Keep in mind you can go to any established eye doctor who has a glasses shop ( Most do) and purchase a pair for day and one for night that has all protection, particularly LED radiation. (Pollution) And after a while it wont matter a whit what lights are on in there.Rocks, FlaSwampRat and WesternPlains Thank this. -
Another thing I love about my job....
I just opened the curtains on my house. It's snowing...
They won't run when it's winter storm weather. I won't get a call.
It's so nice to know I don't have to deal with that BS out there.Rocks, dwells40, thelushlarry and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just for Jostler talk...
In my first job. We had a Jostler who was awful. Had the 'new' mechanic tell me they spent way way too much time fixing trailers he would bust up. This is the cherry topping of the jostler's accomplishments. I came in at 3am to get this trailer and get out of town. This is what I found...
They couldn't get it detached from the truck. Been sitting there since 10pm.
Yes... he thought he would take a shortcut across the railroad tracks to the parking spot for the trailer... at least that was his excuse...

Ughhhh. He moves everything around in a sleeper truck? I was thinking I was a idiot for using a road tractor but at least it's a single screw daycab.
