Shes been pretty dead for me on the deck side. I'm afraid these 3 day work weeks will be the norm this winter. Its hard to pay for my new "dream step deck" at this rate! Might have to rent the house out and move my family into the Roll-Tite haha.
Thank God for the direct customers of where I'm leased to.....but they are slowing down too. Theres lumber out there to fill the gaps, but no freight to get me to the lumber. Like, NOTHING! Fingers crossed it gets better, usually capacity tightens up when a lot of the competition goes to the homeland for the winter...... doesn't seem to be the case yet.
Is work slow for you?

Bison's base rate is .38, but there is US mileage pay ,picks and drops, border crossings, safety bonus, etc. I run Eastern Seaboard and get .40 for Canadian miles and .57 1/2 for all US miles.
-
You also get nailed on HHG miles, free re-positions and service time; wait time capped at 6 hours after 2 hours free (Thankfully they knocked it down from 4 free).
I think its criminal that they still use HHG, everyone and there dog is on practical or ELD GPS (Hub) miles. Also a cap on wait time, those 6 hours, some shippers will pay that to mess you up for 36+ hours. (IE Americold/USA Cold Storage).
Thankfully you still have work tho.Canadianhauler21 and magoo68 Thank this. -
bison base wage is .41 Canada. 46 USA out of Winnipeg
-
Different rate for every Terminal, Calgary/Edmonton is .40 Can .46 US.
-
still a little on the lower side for most van/reefer companies.
haven't really found a higher rate in Winnipeg besides TransX, .47 Canada .50 USA with 3 increases in 5 years topping out at .50 Canada .53 USA -
TransX being HHG miles and absolute forced dispatch, its not worth working there. (They also have speed gauge and other BS)
IHaul is .48 Canada .50 US on practical miles, 0.01c/year topping out at .53 Can .55 US. Have 3 buddies working there now. Seems to be going good so far. The one guy is ex-Bison and hes MUCH happier. The other 2 guys worked LTL with me, at a place that is bankrupt now. I guess when they bought H&R, they flushed the toilet, and started fresh. -
My uncle is down to 3 days a week now. But he's a logger and that industry is pretty much finished in BC for now.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.

TransX being HHG and forced dispatch is not true at all, I've been there for 3 years. it's been practical miles since I've been there in 2016.
forced dispatch is not true at all, although they like to play it off as not having any other loads after I declined something, only to have another load sent 20 minutes later. I always only run 2 dedicated runs out of Winnipeg, decline the rest.
ihaul doesn't have a terminal here in Winnipeg I think. they seem pretty good from what I've seen online. -
Let's hope it turns around. If only these boneheads in office would give the industry a shot in the arm by making it lucrative for China to buy our lumber...... then it would be "Run forest run!!!!"Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.
