So about a month and half ago I had a 6pack done. Now it just didnt seem to have much power and mpg was slightly off. Today the shop calls me and let's me know exhaust rocker 5 and 6 are bad as well as the cam.

That means this cam only survived about 120k. I been doing 12k-15k oil changes with Rotella T6. I have idled alot this year.

Something has to be wrong with install or adjustment oil psi to head there is no way that can should last only 120 k unless the rockers were bad or almost bad from last time and were never replaced but make sure you check rocker oil psi something is going on.

What year is your truck??? Does it have shims for exhaust valves bridges to adjust exhaust valve clearance?? Are both 5 and 6 lobes look the same?? How’s the rollers feel and look that were touching those lobes??

2010 used the shims, sometime in 2014 Volvo got rid of them. After installing new camshaft they will do overhead again, it would be nice to know what shim numbers are in your cylinder head for cylinder 1-6 as it will tell a little story of what condition your exhaust valves are in. IMHO this damage might as well spread to your exhaust valves as it probably wasn’t closing them completely and leads to valves not cooling down properly. Once they will be done warm up your engine and do compression test on a Volvo ptt couple times.

@Newto Trucking thanks. The truck will be needing a new head. So with almost 1.2m it's time to retire it.

If the rest of the truck is in a good shape you might want to consider swapping the engine. Labor to do this will take about 3 days. Last week I’ve been to local truck scrap yard they have mp8 engine out of 2011 truck for 4500.

Sorry to hear , i know the feeling, been there, hard to take costly decisions , GET a BEER enjoy the moment , tomorrow is another day.
Your cam was maybe bad installed, i replaced mine at aprox 1.2 mil, and didn't have problems to 1.8 mil.
I read some repports on european sites about Volvo D13 camshaft isues , poor vibration control design , same cilinder area seems to be affected.
Just be very careful what you buy, trucks are like vintage wine, the older the better.
