Let talk about parking at truck stops. Sometimes they're packed full and you have to take that spot that is right between 2 trucks. It happens no big deal. Then you have the larger lots and sometimes they have back areas where there is room and you dont have to be right on top of the next guy...let me repeat that...you DON'T have to be right on top of the guy next to you. Its called etiquette. Be mindful of others around you. When you have the room, take it. Especially when some older truck stops have larger parking spots.

If you plan your trips correctly you can get good parking without having to fight.

This is wrong, all wrong. When I park the last thing I do is leave a open space on both sides. It doubles my chance of getting hit. If I think the lot we be full I ALWAYS put a truck on my driver's side or better yet back between two that are hopefully staying the night.
    Hood conservation.

When I earned my Supertrucker Certification. .... (that means) Swift backed into me in a truck stop.
I had four people try to park on that left side of me. All four gave up.
Then had a guy come up and park on my right. (hint...two spaces open on right)... When he stopped. I unrolled the window. Said to him: "You're smarter than all four guys who tried to park on my left.".... He looked bewildered and asked: "Why?"... I said: "You chose the easy spot to park in."
