most of the drivers i talk to here at arnold talk about how GOOD a Co. this was before USX(7-15 yrs)
only reason they haven't absorbed Arnold is we have some BIG contracts that USX has F'd up and cant touch
we lost a few even being associated with them.

Actually, there is not much you can do about being fired on the spot becouse of the right that you may quit at anytime without giveing notice and they hold the right to fire you at anytime without giveing notice. mark this. the only thing i can say is there is power in numbers and many numbers have joined forces against giant companys with powerful backing. these problems will see its end in time.

Has USX gone totally to team driving? You would have to get paired up with the right person to be able to make it as a team driver, in my opinion. At least Arnold hasn't been forced into team driving yet!

A Friend of mine who just went through 3 days of orientation with USX at their Colton Ca term called me to tell me they did not hire him.

They told him that if he want a reason why they decided not to hire him he would have to send a written letter to them requesting a reason for being turned down.

I told him not to hire on with these people before he left for orientation, because they suck and wait till you get to orientation to find out if they want you or not.. But like the people on these posts who discount numerous posts on how bad some of these companies are, he went anyway. Now he has wasted time with this outfit.

I think his brief time at Knight Trans (8 days) sunk him, and they figured as crappy as they are he probably would of quit them to.

I told him to find a local gig get your own truck or find a different line of work. Life is to short to waste it tied down 24/7 to a OTR company.

Everyone needs to understand that USX is not the place to be working. We have tried to warn some of the “ NEW” truckers to this monster but they still go ahead to these orientations just to waste their time. After all the posts here we still have some diehards that claim USX is getting a bad rap here. Let me say “ USX is the worse of the worse trucking companies to be employed with” . The dispatchers are all liars, and the corporate level management does not care about you as a driver or a person. After they forced the Florida drivers to become O/O due to their “ inabilities to get freight out of Florida”
I just came in Thursday 30th and watched 6 USX trucks pass me on I95 going north. Nerveless not one of these drivers would reply on the radio as normal. I did however talk with one driver at Vero Beach who said his miles were bad, and he was looking for another company. He then asked me for $20, as they would not give him an advance so he could eat. I paid for his breakfast and 2 packs of cigarettes, then gave him $20.
I would like to touch on something else now,

As everyone knows the state of the Economy is bad. Truck vs Car accidents are on the rise due to unemployment. Watch out for the “ Set up “ as cars pass you then jump in front of you to slam their brakes on. They want you to hit them in the rear. Rear end accidents are a $$$ maker for unemployed people. They can get thousands of dollars from the insurance company and medical costs. You will not win in a rear end collision with a car. The Attorneys will win their settlement case and you have a chargeable accident on you record. We have all seen trucks “ Tail gate” slower cars. Do not get in this trap. Leave the following distance you need to safely operate at the road speed you are driving at. Do not change lanes without looking “ 3 times” as they will come out of nowhere on the right at high speeds trying to get around you. Construction areas are the worse. We know they will try to beat you to the lane closures. Drivers we are professionals, do not try to box these people out risking a collision with this person, give them the space, but then again sometimes it is at the last second they come around and cut in.
    1. Have a cool head. Do not make hand gestures. You know they are # 1 so keep it to yourself
    2. Watch for sudden stops in construction areas, look far enough ahead so you can adjust your stopping distances, and emergency braking should a person step in the road.
    3. Tell other drivers on the CB of road hazards, I might hear this but as you know there are a lot of drivers out there that keep their CB off only to ask “ what is going on” after they come to a complete stop at an accident area.
    4. Show your fellow drivers the professional you are. Road courtesy men. The more some of us portray the professionals we are the quicker it will sink in to those “ new” drivers that have been to trucking schools that no nothing of this.
    5. Help the “ new guys” out. Many “New” drivers need the input.

You said it all Carolina Raider. I couldn't agree more with you. We all need to band together and work through the tough times and also help the new drivers out.

Funny thing is I worked for USX for quite a while and left when we had to go team. They sent me a letter the other day wanting me to come back to work for them as a team driver. No way, before I left miles were getting bad and your right the DM's do nothing but lie and upper management doesn't care about you. Anyway, I have a good gig now and hope it stays that way.
