The model B Cat had been one of the best engines put on the road. The only engine that beat it out had been the series 60 because with the ultimate deseign the only way to beat it is a completly diferent design.

Okay, as long as I can just drive it for my own enjoyment, and not have to drive it all day every day, then I want about a 64-66 GMC Crackerbox with sleeper, Detroit Diesel (Of course), probably a nice 8v-71 318, 10 speed, and air ride suspension, bolt in one of Hendrickson's new air ride front axles, and some air bags for the cab mounts. Rooftop mounted A/C unit, maybe a snappy red and white old cabover style paint job. 22.5's on Aluminum wheels, Chrome bumper and Grille. Always had a soft spot for the look of the old Jimmy's.

The only change I would do with that is I would go with the tall rubber along with either a 13 or 15 speed....
-
Not sure of the need for the tall rubber, I just wanted to get into some modern radial rubber so I wouldn't have to ride around town on 10x20.00's with bias ply. As for the 13 speed, maybe, but for a toy truck, it wouldn't really be needed, since I might have a large camper trailer or something similar hooked behind just for going to shows. But to each their own, and if you need the 13 and the 24.5, why not. After all, we are dealing in fantasies here.
At least for now. I know of a Crackerbox and may be able to get my hands on it in the future as a toy...... -
I like the GMC Brigadiers myself. They resemble 67-72 Chevy pickups from the side. Notice the shape of the doors.

You can get 10.00R20 tube radials...I drive a truck with them. IIRC, Goodyear, Cooper, & Michelin make them, and Bandag still can cap them.

I towed cars for years and the first big truck I ever drove was a 1957 Peterbilt triple axle wrecker. THAT was fun! lol

I know where there is one of those sitting. It hasn't been on the road since 1978. I think he stopped using it because the shifter was a bit loose. I think it's a 6V71 with a five speed and a two speed rear. It still looks pretty clean for it's age

Sorry boys but I have three.
Number 1 a Marmon 57p with and N14 Cummins
Number 2 a Chevrolet Bison repowered with a Big Block Cat or Cummins
Number 3 a Autocar AT64 kinda looks like a W900 with a 3408 or 3412 cat in them either a 13 or 10 speed tranny. -
i happen to own my favorite. 1951 g.m.c. cabover. ugly, not much power, but it's mine!
