I was on a dedicated account before.. with former company... it was generally pick up empties at WM DCs and load at shippers and then go to another WM DC for delivery. Sometimes, when load planner didn't have anything, I would go to WM private fleet dispatch office and they would run me delivering loads at WM supercenters.... back and forth....
That dedicated used to stay on the east side of Mississippi river but I have always run as hard as I could, so load planer kept me going 48 states.... that started on paper logs.... I was INCREDIBLE, she said.... and I loved it! But all has changed now....

Yeah... I am considering something like that... it's easier to plan, to find parking and routine, schedules, etc....
I love going all over the country but it's much more stressful in all aspects....

    D.Tibbitt and WesternPlains Thank this.

Hey Mr. @WesternPlains ... did you drive for Western Flyer Express....? One of my dispatchers used to work for them... he came from there... and he likes to run his drivers till they "call uncle" as he said.... :biggrin_25523:
I never called uncle.... :biggrin_25512: but I did win most miles driven safely in the company in 2 consecutive years when he was my dispatcher....

Haven't and not planning on working for Wenstern Flyer Express.
Am doing a wallyworld dedicated. Out of North Platte Nebraska. It delivers to where I live. They said home every week for 34. But can do much better on money if I pass on that. Not counting much on the getting home each week. But will ask when things slow down if they can consider it.
I loved OTR. But the going all day without being able to take breaks got to my legs. This breaks up the run. 2 to 5 stops a day. Or rather night. 400 mile radius

Rocks, D.Tibbitt and dwells40 Thank this.

That means you and your body is absolutely normal. It is to be expected in this life that there is a cost.

That is one of these costs. I have been working a number of years following Google earth back tracking into some of the places Ive run out of according to records, but do not remember them at all. Even today there are places I could not tell you anything about. Leading a normal person to consider me full of BS. Which would be a normal reaction.
    \
When you are tired, you forget, then you don't record memories at all. I don't bother with the clock at all, if I need sleep? Great. See you soon. IF i need sleep later? We will get it then, maybe 5 hours maybe 6 at my age.

IF I was to say sleep 14 hours straight, that means Ive over did it really badly the previous day being very physical or pushing it with the stupid doctors. Two days ago I sit in a hard wood chair for 5 hours waiting for the #### heart doctor to see me. (He finally did about 6 hours and 10 minutes beyond the 10:30 am appt.) Considering the place was full of people with one foot in the grave worse off than I am I don't mind waiting. It will just cost more medicine that night. (I keep a reserve on hand for days like that)

But memories for trucking specifically? Lots of those. The best ones turn into stories. Once in a while I'll have to go back over the stories and keep them organized. There are so many. And some still untold which I will get around to in it's time sooner or later.

As far as the other physical stuff, I did not see too much damage because we were in the sun and rain. If you wanted people to become pasty and a shadow of their former selves, literally ghosts, put them into a cubicle at minimum wage and micromanage their accumulating failures all day while telling them they are not performing as expected and will expect to be replaced at any time.

    HA....

At my new company. They say the Dedicated are killing it. Walking all over the OTR drivers.
